President Museveni’s bodyguard says I do

Gilbert Mwesigwa is one of the men who stand behind President Museveni to protect him from any harm.

Over the weekend, Gilbert wedded his love, Agnes Mwesigwa. The two exchanged their vows at St. Paul Cathedral, Ruharo.

Thereafter Gilbert hosted his guests at a big big party/reception at Kigaragara, Kashumba, Bukanga in Isingiro district.

While delivering his remarks/speech, Gilbert begged Ugandans to enjoy peace ushered in by NRM. Admittedly, Gilbert cast a disclaimer, ” I am not campaigning for Mzee, but I urge every one to give him credit because the President has always struggled to maintain peace and security.”

Unlike Kampala where urban excitement has taken toll on the youths, at this function there was nothing political or emotions inclined to politics.

The village was engulfed by happiness, the youths gathered in droves to dance to their lame. Hundreds of guests converged at Mzee Israel Hangamaisho to party with the newly wedded couple.

Lines of guests snaked through banana plantations in order to be served the sumptuous meal that seemed an occasionally surprise to the village.

This was an occasion for Gilbert to add on the number of cows he has; his colleagues in service as well as relatives did outcompete each other in giving heifers. At the end of the function over 20 heifers were recorded in favour of the couple.

This was a historical wedding in the village of Kigaragara, over 3,000 guests were hosted and all served a drink of their choice after a buffet.

Old women in the village were amazed by some of the food items served. Many were overheard asking, ” Egi embaga kuyaba eyomutano! Eriho nambogoya? This can loosely be interpreted as, ” This wedding is quite special. Even Bogotá is served?” Old wondered while they stood agape!

Surely, the party will remain in the mind of young peoples in that village, who danced like cockroaches in banana plantations, raising dust that formed clouds over a time.
