Retired Bishop of the Diocese of Kitgum loses son to COVID-19

Retired Bishop of the Diocese of Kitgum, Rt. Rev. Macleord Baker Ochola II, on behalf of the family of late Janayo Okello Lucima, of Pobiira, Wii-Gweng, Madi Opei,  Lamwo District,  announces with deep sorrow the passing away of their son, BASIL OKEE LUCIMA.
Mr Lucima passed on at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital on Thursday, 17.12. 2020,  due to diabetic and hypertensive complications.
Mr Lucima worked for 29 unbroken years with Oxfam GB, Oxfam International, & Humanitarian Accountability Programme International (HAPI), Geneva, Switzerland.
Working with Oxfam GB & Oxfam International, Mr. Lucima rose from the  position of Emergencies Programme Coordinator, to Regional Humanitarian Coordinater for Horn, East & Central Africa, and served in several countries and capitals, including Uganda, Rwanda, DR Congo,  Tanzania, Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia, South Africa,  Nairobi, Oxford in the UK, Khartoum, and Geneva, among several other stations, until he voluntarily retired in 2007.
After leaving Oxfam and active employment, Mr Lucima went into private business and built from scratch, successful household name brands that include Homeland Buses, Homeland Courier Services, Homeland Telecom, etc, and stood with and supported his communities in the hardest of times of reviving Northern Uganda after the guns fell silent.
