corrupt cops are a hard nut to crack

The two references, the one of PSU and the one of Old Kampala Police Station

The Greek physician and philosopher Hippocrates said it first and said it best: “For extreme diseases, extreme methods of cure, as to restriction, are most suitable.” In other words, drastic times call for drastic measures.

Now, these corrupt cops at Old Kampala Police Station need desperate measures. If you have been there, you will testify that there are cops who have at the station for over 10 years without transfer.  These cops are not only corrupt but also deadly/dangerous.

A source who preferred anonymity but provided all the necessary documents, has told The Drone Media, how he has been frustrated by the cops at Old Kampala Police Station.

On 23rd November, 2019 a thug stole his phone which was valued at sh500,000. He reported the incident at Old Kampala Police Station SD REF. 49/25/11/2019. He was told to pay for a tracker who could track the thug, which he did and the suspect was found in Kamwokya.

He went with the police reference to Mawanda Road Police Station; the officers at Mawanda Road helped to apprehend the suspect.

The officer rang Old Kampala Police Station and informed them that he was delivering a suspect, whose offence was referenced on SD REF. 49/25/2019.
Thereafter the suspect was transferred to Old Kampala Police Station.

Upon arriving at the station, the suspect was put behind bars. However, a few minutes later when the police officers at the counter that night who included a one Kemigisha; Moses Kisale and another female officer, asked for money and the victim did not give the bribe they released the suspect immediately.

They harassed him and called someone who was guarding at the gate to threaten him to shoot. They let the suspect go  and refused the transfer form from Kamwokya.

The victim spent a night at the station. In the morning, the Deputy OC CID agreed there was a problem and told the officers to call and bring back the suspect but till now the suspect has never been called back.

After a week the victim contacted the DPC of the station, who directed him to the OC CID, Abdu Nasser Mulimira. Afande Mulimira, instead, down played the case. He called the officers concerned and other officers he claimed were from Police Professional Standards Unit (PSU), then told him that the corrupt officers would be handled professionally as his case was being handled.

Until this day, nothing has ever surfaced.  On July 27, 2020 afande Mulimira told him to facilitate the Investigating Officer to track the suspect. The victim needs justice; he has reported these officers to the State House Anti-corruption committee and Police Professional Standards Unit (PSU), but nothing has yielded.  Who will help?
