This is why the entire Flying Squad force was disbanded

At the beginning of this week a notice was made to terminate all flying squad operatives from service within the police force.

Now, a reliable source has confided in the Drone Media that this move was made simply because members of the flying squad were still close to Nickson, Muhangi and Kale Kayihura simply because the latter recruited them.

The decision to return flying squad under new leadership was criticised by many outsiders, many human rights activists who didn’t approve of Flying Squad methods thought the new police command was being naive, in reality the initial intention was to identify and put tags on these operatives.

As of now many are being arrested over their personal misdeeds.

The public believe that Flying Squad has always been a criminal force that Police bosses designed to do dirty works in pretence of fighting high level criminals.

Members of this force were high level criminals themselves. They resorted into extortion of victims of crime and setting up innocent Ugandans for assassinations.

There are over 700 complaints on flying squad alone, the team mastered the art of performing operational miracles.

Information availed by Drones indicate that two CRB books are being used at CPS, Kampala; one of them is for flying squad.

According to legal experts this is completely wrong ;  it is an insult to the justice system in Uganda.

As it is, a new flying squad team is likely to be recruited from the army and vetted by senior police command.

It is just like in developed countries, where there is a special elite police force that operates exactly like flying squad only that they will never shoot at anyone not holding a gun, they will only pick you up if they are sure you are committing a serious crime.

They ride in expensive cars and are non uniformed, once they arrest you expect regular police to arrive in minutes to complete the task.

In Uganda the former could shoot at anyone suspected of committing a crime serious or petty, in one incident they shot at three people from the back “holding one gun” one wondered how three people would use one gun to shoot back and how one someone can shoot while facing the opposite side?

This was in Kireka. Such acts are seen as abuse of power and human rights abuse, systems must be put in place to check police officers’ behaviour.
