Silaje Bakareke hiding at Ronald Kibule’s home

All police units in the country have received alerts to arrest former Kampala South Regional Police Commander, Silaje Bakareke.

This directive came from the IGP Martin Ochola while he addressed Ugandans on TV.

The Uganda Police Force’s boss asked Ugandans to help police and avail information regarding the whereabouts of Silaje Bakareke.

Bakareke is accused of extorting sh 1.4 billions from two South Koreans. The two foreigners had come to Uganda, looking for gold, amounting to $1.5million early this year.

The Koreans, victims were reportedly put on gun point asked to hand over the money to police officers who were with Bakareke.

As it is, the money developed legs and walked back to Korean and it has never been found.

Today, the police is playing games. They feign ignorance about Silaje Bakareke’s whereabouts, yet is guarded by police officers at Ronald Kibule’s home in Mukono.

The Drone Media can exclusively reveal that Silaje Bakareke is harboured by Ronald Kibule. It is alleged that Ronald Kibule got a share of the loot.

In April this year, the Inspector General of Police, Martin Ochola, suspended Siraje Bakareke and four other officers over allegations of illegal arrest of South Korean nationals and robbery.

Through the Director of Police Administration, Moses Balimwoyo, Ochola ordered ACP Bakareke, Assistant Superintendent of Police Herbert Akankwasa, Detective Inspector Robert Ray Asiimwe, Constable Drover Robert Ayebare and Constable Kenneth Zirintusa to hand over office immediately.

The deputy police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, confirmed the suspension of the officers.

“It is true that the officers have been suspended to allow smooth investigation of their cases,” Onyango said but declined to reveal details.
The officers were being investigated on allegations of unlawful arrest and confiscation of property belonging to the South Korean nationals.

The South Koreans identified as Park Seunghoon and Jang Shingu Un were to meet some gold dealers at Acacia Mall in Kampala where their lawyer had set up the meeting.

One of the South Koreans allegedly told Uganda Police officers that at Acacia Mall they were surrounded by security operatives, who put them on gunpoint and ordered them to hand over the money.

The victims were arrested and driven to Entebbe International Airport where they were deported.
Police Flying Squad Unit failed to recover the said money.

The South Koreans later reported the case to Ugandan authorities prompting an investigation by Flying Squad Unit, but it never was.
