Tororo RDC mobilizes locals

Amula Albert Deputy RDC Tororo joined district leadership that included; District Vice chairperson, District speaker, Honorable Councillors and technical personnel at the stakeholders engagement on operations of Islamic Banking under the Local economic Growth Support program and Indoor residual spraying for Tororo district on 25th/01/2023 at the District headquarter.

In preparation for the 10th round of indoor Residual spraying as per the President’s Malaria initiative Vector link Uganda project, Tororo district organised a review and sensitization engagement aimed at sharing experiences, challenges and recommendations basing on the previous indoor residual spraying exercise.

Amula Albert urged the leadership to embrace the indoor residual spraying initiative that is aimed at fighting malaria since it’s one of the killer diseases in the country so as to have a healthy population in the district.

Furthermore , the Government of Uganda through Ministry of Local Government and Microfinance support centre has rolled out the Local Economic Growth support (LEGS) Project that extends interest free loans through the Islamic development bank in partnership with local governments and Microfinance support centre sensitized the District Council about operations of the program.

The team from Microfinance support centre informed the leaders that over 3 billion shillings has been ring fenced for Tororo district and there is need to sensitize and promote the program among the communities.

The project is implemented in line with sharia law and is focused on lending funds to the community for Projects that are sharia compliant and so far 130M has been disbursed to a few groups in Tororo district.

He implored the leaders to embrace all the interventions that government has put in place so as to improve the livelihoods of the people and engage in monitoring of the funds that have been disbursed to groups with support from Microfinance centre under Islamic loan financing.
