Government upgrades health centres in Tororo

Amula Albert, the Deputy RDC Tororo has today 23rd/Jan/2023 joined the key stakeholders in Tororo Municipality led by the Area MP Hon Yeri Ofwono, and the Mayor His Worship Orono Kenneth Nyapidi, District Chairperson Hon Okea John, LC III Western Division, Town Clerk, CAO Tororo, Technical and political leadership at the ground breaking ceremony of the upgrading of Kyamwinula Health Centre II to Health Centre III located in Western Division, Tororo Municipality.

The Government of Uganda through the Uganda Inter-governmental Fiscal Transfer (UGIFT) grant is undertaking an upgrade of Kyamwinula Health Center II to Health Centre III with the view of improving on health service delivery in Tororo Municipality.

The Government through UGIFT allocated sh889M for the upgrade of the facility that is set to be completed in 8 months.

Infrastructure to be constructed include; General Maternity Ward, 2 unit staff quarters, 4 stance lined VIP latrine, Medical waste pit, Maternity pit and Upgrade of OPD.

The Mayor of Tororo His worship Orono Nyapidi thanked the area MP for lobbying and its being visible through the Health Centre upgrade and urged the contractor to ensure that the people of Tororo are employed under the project and the contractor should work with the local leadership.

The District chairperson Hon Okea John urged the community of Kyamwinula to continue supporting their leaders and tasked the contractor to consider the people of Tororo while employing workers.

He informed the community that the same contractor is scheduled to kick start works of the upgrade of Namwaya Health Centre II in Nagongera subcounty.

The area MP Hon Yeri Ofwono informed the community that he is fulfilling some of the pledges he made to the electorates among others.

Hon Yeri Ofwono pledged to lobby for more government programs in the Municipality so as to ensure service delivery.

Deputy RDC Tororo urged the contractor who is undertaking construction works RAK Bold Edge Joint Venture to ensure that the people of Tororo get value for money from the facilities that they intend to set up.

He tasked the political and technical leadership in the municipality to intensify supervision of the project so that they get value for money.

Albert further reiterated government’s commitment in provision of efficient and effective health service delivery and this is being fulfilled through upgrade of Kyamwinula Health Centre II to health centre iii and the facility will be fully equipped.

He thanked the Tororo District leadership for working as a team and this unity has eased the lobbying capacity of the district at National level.
