Tshala Muana succumbs to death

Tshala Muana ; Birth name, Élisabeth Tshala Muana Muidikay ; Born, (1958-05-13) 13 May 1958 (age 64) Élisabethville, Belgian Congo ; Died in Paris, France December 10th, 2022.

Élisabeth Tshala Muana Muidikay, known professionally as Tshala Muana, was a singer and dancer from Congo-Kinshasa. Considered the “Queen of Mutuashi”, a traditional dance music from her native Kasai region, she is often called “Mamu National”

Two years ago, in 2020 Thala Muana reportedly suffered a mild stroke and was hospilized, she supposed healed.

However, Social Media was a wash with news claiming the legendary rhumba singer was dead, which she vehemently dismissed.

The Veteran Congolese rhumba giant confirmed she had been hospitalized for an unspecified medical condition.

Officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo disclosed the singer suffered a minor stroke and was hospitalized over the weekend.

Rumors swelled in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa, that the singing great had died of Covid-19.
On Monday, June 8, 2020, she was forced to issue a brief statement from her hospital bed. She confirmed her hospitalization but dismissed rumours she had died.

Her manager Claude Mashala also dismissed assertions that Tshala Muana was taken ill for coronavirus.
Mashala admitted the singing sensation of the Mutwashi fame suffered a high blood pressure crisis. Tshala Muana also called for prayers for her quick recovery.

Born Elisabeth Tshala Muana Muidikay, the 64 year old singer said she was recuperating well from the setback.

Sadly, today, two years after her hospitalization, she has succumbed to death. She started her artistic career as a dancer for the musical band Tsheke Tsheke Love in 1977 before turning to singing.

Tshala wrote much of her own material and, unlike most Congolese who sang in Lingala and played the rumba and its speeded-up off-shoot, soukous, Tshala preferred to employ the mutuashi rhythm and to sing in her first language, Tshiluba.
