The Attorney General Hon William Byaruhanga has been listed among witnesses in a court case involving businessman Karim Hirji and his step children.
He is legally feuding with his three stepchildren, who accuse him of grabbing the estate of their late mother Ziba Nanyonga Hirji alias Charm.
They say the case has not yielded over some factors since it’s filing in 2015 and now they petitioned the speaker of parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga to intervene.
In the filed case, Mr Byaruhanga and Patrick Bitature were listed among top witnesses.
Byaruhanga was one of Karim’s lawyers when Ziba Nanyonga passed on.
The late Charm had three children before she got married to Hirji in 1985. Linda Birungi, the eldest daughter, is the petitioner on behalf of her siblings; Ronnie Birungi and Anita Birungi.
Hirji and Charm had three other children namely; Karima Hirji, Anisha Hirji and Nabila Hirji. Charm died on February 8, 2004 from Cromwell hospital in London and was buried at Kololo cemetery. She left several properties worth billions of shillings both in Uganda and the UK.
In the case filed on December 31, 2015, the trio accuse Hirji and his friend Joseph Ssempebwa of transferring the deceased’s property into their own names as absolute owners, misappropriating monies from both her accounts and proceeds from her life insurance policy.
Speaking after meeting Kadaga , Linda said they want Justice and nothing less.
Oh his part , Karim told our site Linda and group are being misled and promised to explain soon.
Linda said some of the properties include two residential premises in the UK, Jenina commercial building in Nansana and 10 hectares of land in Gayaza and other places around town.
