Wakasanke-Masanafu residents pray for UMEME contract end

When the UMEME electricity distribution contract ends in 2025 it will be an answered prayer for the residents of Wakasanke-Masanafu.

These Ugandans have suffered due to UMEME’s negligence and corrupt tendencies while power is distributed in the country.  According to the vexed residents, UMEME, through its employees who wear green overcoats, loadshed the area four times in a week.  Worse still, these employees ask for money to change customers’ lines, claiming they are overloaded. Yet, the problem never ends. After one week a customer has been changed the loadshedings continues!

Besides, there are customers who remain receiving electricity in the area while the majority languish in darkness. The question is, “does UMEME distribute hot air? Where does it take that electricity supposed to be distributed to Wakasanke-Masanafu residents?

Can UMEME explain where there is laodsheding at Wakasanke-Masanafu? If you are reading this and you have a solution to this problem affecting electricity customers, please be kind and advise. Residents have reported to various offices, but have not been helped.

With this background, the Wakasanke-Masanafu residents welcomed the news that the government will not renew the UMEME electricity distribution contract once it ends in 2025.
