Why Ganda Boys Music Group rebranded

By Drone Staff Writer

Ganda boys is a music group of two Ugandan brothers Daniel Sewagudde and Dennis Mugagga.

The duo started their music career in 2005 while in the United Kingdom.

They started with the name DA TWINS and made several hit songs that included Mudomo, Ndeku,Ssente,Twala,Mirembe featuring veteran Kadongo Kamu singers Willy Mukabya and Gerald Kiweewa.

Despite this, the group never got chance to perform in Uganda as a duo because one of the them was staying in the UK illegally.

As time went on, they changed their name to Ganda Boys and started a charity organization in the UK called Ganda Foundation with their American Manager

This was a good move because it helped them get work permits and also settle in the UK as singers that are doing charity work for the people of Uganda.

As a result, they started coming back to Uganda together to promote their organization

In January, 2023 they came back to Uganda and held meetings with Buganda Kingdom officials that included the Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga and the Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda.

The meeting took place at Bulange Mengo on Wednesday January, 25, 2023

According to the group, the officials commended them for promoting Buganda culture in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States of America

The music group has collaborated with six choirs in different continents of the world to redo the Buganda anthem known as Ekitiibwa Kya Buganda.

They also met the European Union ambassador Jan Sadek at his office in Kampala and held talks over different issues.

“We visited the head of delegation European Union. He appreciated Ekitiibwa Kya Buganda Anthem and attested to the great feeling he had when he listened to it. It nearly brought him to tears. We’ve discussed many possibilities for joint future work,” they said in a social media post

Before that, they participated in the Kisakaate kya Nabagereka project and talked to the children that came to be part of the event at Muzza Kabembe High School in Mukono district.
