Bafere (conmen) launch an attack on Vision Group’s CEO Don Wanyama

By Drone Reporter

While many people in Uganda are worried of the lockdown; COVID-19 and all the consequences; some crooks who are driven by the power of Satan, believe they are smarter and busy devising means of robbing innocent Ugandans.

The goons, locally known as Bafere in Uganda (read conmen) have launched an attack on Vision Group’s CEO Don Wanyama. The crooks, as the victim put it; are using a strange mobile telephone number to execute their thieving duties.

Don Wanyama has alerted colleagues on twitter : “Colleagues beware. Someone using this number, 0726046815, is impersonating me, and reportedly conning people. They have some of my pics picked off my social media pages as their profile images. Please don’t deal with them. I have notified police & the crooks will be nabbed.”

Like many conmen on the soil; these crooks are targeting scandalous dealers; they are blackmailing them. They call themselves “Mr. Fix It.”  In other words, they pretend to fix what could have gone wrong in the deals they know; this gives you an impression that this is a big syndicate; they have syndicated information, which they use to pin the victims.

This is one way the conmen corner their victims. Another way is like this: towards the end of last year, Grace Busingye received a phone call from a man who only identified himself as Peter. The man claimed to be a long lost friend.

When Busingye responded by saying she did not have any friend called Peter, the man went ahead to mention her full name, age, current place of residence and village, which was all correct information.

But even after volunteering all this information, Busingye could still not remember ever knowing or meeting any Peter. She was confused. But rather than cut him off, she went ahead to give him audience, hoping he had something important to say.  These conmen aim at seeking your audience because they believe in convincing language. Once they gain your audience, they corner you.
