Cameroon’s President Biya 85 seeks for more years

Cameroon’s President Biya 85, who has ruled for 36 Years is seeking a new 7-year term.

Cameroon’s President Paul Biya intends to extend his 36 year rule by running for re- election in October.
Biya who came to power in 1982 is seeking his 7th term in office.

Biya has ruled virtually by decree since taking office, scrapped term limits from the constitution in 2008, allowing him to run again.

Cameroon is currently going through a period of strife sparked by calls for a breakaway state by residents of the English speaking region who say they are discriminated against by the Francophone majority.

The elections are scheduled scheduled for 7th October 2018 at a turbulent time for the country.
