CATHOLIC PRIEST CHARGED WITH MURDER

Reverend Father Richard Mugisha, attached to Bisanje Catholic Parish has been charged with murder. He reportedly killed Ronald Kyeyune, 30, a suspected robber who had allegedly broken into the priest’s house on a Tuesday.
Rev Fr. Richard Mugisha was summoned to appear at Police on Friday 15th/10/2021, but was represented by his lawyer Alexander Lule.
It is alleged that the suspect was apprehended by the village security team after allegedly accessing the priest’s residence through the roof.
Muhammad Nsubuga, the greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, says that Rev Fr Mugisha called police to alert them about the arrest of a person who had allegedly broken into the windshield of his motor vehicle. However, the suspect died shortly after arriving at Masaka Central Police Station.
He explained that the suspect who was apprehended by the village security team on a routine night patrol was naked and had smeared himself with motor vehicle oil which raised suspicion about his real motive.
However, he dismissed the fear that he was beaten by a mob.  Last year, Rev. Fr. Richard Mugisha was on the spot for using the pulpit to ask Ugandans to vote NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu!
This comes at a time when murder has become a biggest problem in Masaka and its neighbouring areas. Today, Ugandans are tired; they are angry. Whenever they take thieves to police, nothing will happen to the thugs. That is why many have opted for mob justice. However, it is not good to take the law into an individual’s hands.
As it is, Rev. Fr. Richard Mugisha seemed to have fallen into this trap. The man of God is now facing the gallows, simply because he opted for mob justice. The Catholic Priest is said to have stopped the irate mob, but could not manage.
