Daily Monitor in trouble as President Museveni is vaccinated

The Daily Monitor is in real trouble.  President Yoweri Museveni and his wife, Janet Museveni have just been injected with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.  The Daily Monitor published in its dailies that President and his family got injected with COVID-19 vaccine some time ago.

The report angered the president and threatened to sue the Daily Monitor unless the management apologized and agreed to reverse the report to first page of the paper, and on several days of publication.

The report insinuated that President Museveni, his family members, and close associates had been vaccinated.

While addressing the nation on recently, the President said he would get some money for his party through the courts of law if the newspaper doesn’t apologize to him.

Well, today March 27, 2021; President Yoweri Museveni received his first Covid-19 doze and encouraged all Ugandans that qualify for it to get vaccinated.

President Museveni received the jab at State House, Nakasero; Saturday morning. “First Lady Janet Museveni and I got our Covid-19 vaccine today in Nakasero. I encourage all Ugandans who qualify for this vaccination to go to health facilities and get it. But remember to keep observing the SOPs; wear masks, wash/sanitize hands and observe social distance, etc,” Gen Museveni said after receiving his shot.

Uganda has rolled out the first phase of a nationwide Covid-19 vaccination with at least 29 million Ugandans expected to be vaccinated at the end of the entire exercise.

The country received a second batch of 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 7 from the government of India as a donation, to add to the initial acquisition of 864,000 doses through the Covid-19 Vaccine Global Access (Covax) facility on March 5.

According to the country’s Ministry of Health, the first phase of vaccination will go on until March 19, and cover 950,000 frontline workers including health workers, security personnel, teachers and journalists.
