Dubai Returnee scares Bukanga residents so hard

As you read this residents in Kigaragara, Kashumba, Bukanga in Isingiro district, have gone hungry for two days. The residents in the South-Western district of Ankole, reportedly went on self-inflicted hunger strike over a Dubai
returnee.

Denis Kamaa, who has been working in Dubai for the last two years returned last week before President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni announced health guidelines and restrictions concerning Covid-19.

Kamma reportedly arrived in Uganda via Entebbe International Airport on 15th, March, 2020 and did not get any clearance from officials at the airport. A close relative told The Drone Media that Kamaa returned when no case of Covid-19 from Dubai had been reported and that is what made airport officials reluctant.

However, the officials mbu reportedly carried out mundane check ups and left Kamaa to go home. Yesterday (Sunday, March 22, 2020), after a case of a 36-year old male testing positive was announced by Minister of Health M/S Jane Ruth Aceng, Bukanga residents stormed Kamaa’s residential home to crucify him.

The Dubai returnee was prior informed by friends and fled the village. An alarm was made and all district officials from Isingiro district headquarters, conducted a search and could not find Kamaa.

A relative told The Drone Media that Kamaa was advised by friends that if he reported to the officials at the airport they would demand $100 for quarantine and also spend 14 days there.

Therefore, the relative said, “Kamaa was again advised to volunteer a Covid-19 health test so that he could present results to the authorities. This is actually what Kamaa is doing now as you read this.

However, The Drone Media has not established whether the Dubai returnee showed symptoms of Covid-19 or not, residents as well as The Drone Media, are anxiously waiting for the outcome. The Drone Media has learnt that residents in his home village could not eat over the fear and worries. Covid-19
has devastated villages as well as big cities.
