The OC Ruharo Police Post in Mbarara was murdered this morning

Sad news filtering in on our news desk is that The OC Ruharo Police Post in Mbarara was murdered by unknown assailants armed with a gun and a panga while on duty in the wee hours of Wednesday, 9th September, 2021.
This comes at a time when two Members of Parliament, Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya and Hon Alla Ssewanyana, are remanded to Kitalya Mini Max Prison over the Greater Masaka Killings..
The Rwizi Spokesperson Simon Kasasira has confirmed the death of Corporal Richard Agaba, the OC Ruharo Police Post. According to Kasasira, Agaba was murdered a few minutes past midnight.
Reports from Mbarara say Corporal Agaba was killed while responding to a distress call. As he responded to a distress call about thugs who had reportedly raided a nearby bar, Agaba did not realize it was a trap by armed goons to lure him into their sphere of influence and later put him out of action.
Agaba was pronounced dead at 3am on arrival at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where he had been rushed after being shot by yet to be found thugs.
Corporal reportedly received a call from a boda boda rider known as Muzamiru Kiiza, who claimed armed robbers had attacked Step Up Bar in Kiyanja Cell, Ruharo Ward, North Dision, Mbarara City.
Currently, security threats have extended to Nateete, Kyengera, Mutundwe, Bweyogerere, Namugongo & Kampala.
Cases of thugs wielding Pangas moving at night have been reported in those areas as was in Masaka.
Thugs scream and make alarms as if they are neighbours being attacked so when you open to help they hack your head and steal all property.
Caution:
1. Ensure that all security lights r on at night don’t compromise security for saving Electricity, u would rather spend on UMEME for security lighting than loosing life
2. Gates should be locked at a specific hour & no access past that hour
3. Please avoid moving late in the night whether while at home or hostel.
4. Never open for any one before finding out who it is.
5. The thugs may use a relative’s name & voice to dupe you, so make sure that any person who wants to access the house uses a point more visible & preferably the front.
6. Always keep the phone fully charged with some airtime to communicate with the neighbours or any others for rescue.
7. Ensure that you communicate your exact movements to at least 2 people & give them contacts of the people in your company or you are hanging out with.
8. It is a good security trick to take photos of the people in your company for example when hanging out and post them say on facebook or WhatsApp or to a parent or friends who r not part of the outing, you can even extend to add a short intro say, ” attending a wedding meeting with my pals Andrew, Julie, Lisa, Peter, X, Y Z at Javas, so that in the event anything happens to you, post that moment, we may have leads into investigations.
9. Always be security conscious about people conducting themselves suspiciously around you, u can extend to ask whether the person appearing suspicious to you may need your help, u can politely approach him or her and ask “excuse me, it appears to me that you are looking for some one or is there a way I can help?”
10. Be cautious of who is following you if driving for example & if possible try to stop in an area where there are many people & express to them your suspicion.
11. Avoid riding on boda bodas late night & if you can’ t avoid it, desist from using 1 a specific rider all the time since this one can be a future security risk.
12. Treat most of your phone talk as confidential thus desist from talking on phone while riding on a boda, request caller to allow you time or ask rider to backup aside to allow you attend to a caller.
