“Forgive me” were reportedly Joseph Kony’s last words before COVID-19 claimed him

The Lord Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony is reportedly dead. The merciless fighter is said to have succumbed to COVID-19 in Central Africa Republic.

News about the ruthless fighter’s death, who massacred Ugandans in the northern part of the country could not be readily confirmed, but it excited most of his foes.

WHO IS JOSEPH KONY?

JOSEPH Kony was born on August 10, 1962 at Palaro, Agwengtina village, Odek sub-county, Omoro County in Gulu district. Odek is located 64KM along the Gulu-Opit-Rackoko-Moroto Road due east of Gulu town in north Uganda.
The mother of Kony is Norah Anek-Oting, now living in Namwongo, a suburb in Kampala being catered for by the Government of Uganda.

The circumstances surrounding who is the true biological father of Kony is however controversial. Elders from Odek villages  and many others assert that the late Luigi Obol who died in 2002 and buried at Lacor Catholic cemetery in Gulu municipality is the true one, but others say not.

Reliable sources, being elders reveal that Kony Obol, who fought in the Second World War forcedly, got Oting who was already pregnant and gave birth to a boy-child who was then named Kony.

The same sources disclosed that the real biological father of Kony (not disclosed) was said to be a son to one Agaro (the late) from Wol, Agago County in Pader district (formerly Kitgum District). Agaro is therefore reliably believed to be the Grand-father of Kony. Kony is therefore believed to be a  blood of Kitgum (now Pader) district.

How and why was he named Kony? Foremost, Kony is a luo (Acoli word), which means help. How was he then named Kony (Help)?

Right before Oting was reportedly brought into the clan of Palaro in Odek by Obol while in her early pregnancy, the Palaro Clan elders reportedly debated strongly against accepting her (Oting) into the clan with her pregnancy. The elders claimed the act was against the norms and the culture of Acoli.

The elders reportedly agued it was against the clan's norms for a man to elope and mix the clan with another blood (pregnancy). The elders disagreed and got divided over the issue. Those pro said the pregnancy should not be aborted because the child would one time be of 'help' to the
clan. When the child was produced a baby boy, it was then conditionally named Kony.

The name Kony is not very commonly found in Acoli clans as it is not a usual name by culture.

The only similar names to Kony in Acoli are either Lakony (somebody who gives help), but not Kony.

A group demanded that the pregnancy be aborted while the other group that was pro defeated the other by majority views. This therefore made Oting’s pregnancy to survive being aborted and a society disgraced Kony came into the world.
