Fresh details indicate that Police Directors visit shrines

Fresh details indicate that Police Directors visit shrines. According to reports The Drones have picked up in the corridors of police; the law enforcers especially the police directors have resorted to consulting witch doctors to save their jobs.

This follows reports that the Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola is under pressure to sack or suspend any police chief who may be derailing the police institution.

For starters most police directors have just had their contracts renewed but most of them almost faced the axe over misdeeds while others like the Godfrey Bangirana the Director of logistics and Engineering is under investigations by the IGG for allegedly causing financial loss to the tune of billions during his long tenure.

Lately there was panic as Police Directors whose contracts were yet to be renewed expressed concern to the Police Policy and Advisory Committee PAC chaired by the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola over their status.

Even when some contracts were renewed, there remains uncertainty among ten Police Directors because their extension may be no defense since even former police both Gen Kale Kayihura was fired when his contract had just been renewed.

Sources from police intimate that some directors have run to their pastors, priests and traditional doctors to bless them sail through. There is a famous director who has hired a resident traditional practitioner who rides in a police truck to help him secure his office.

Some of the directors who have been affected include, Edward Ochom, the Director Research and Planning, Asan Kasingye, the Chief Political Commissar, Haruna Isabirye, Director Human Resource Development, Fred Yiga, the Director Interpol, Grace Turyagumanawe, the Director Peace Support Operations and John Ndugutse, the Police Attaché to Nairobi. Others are Abas Byakagaba, the Director Counter-Terrorism, Asuman Mugyenyi, the Director Operations, Francis Rwego, the Special Interpol Representative to the African Union and Deputy Director Human Resource Development, Felix Ndyomugyenyi.

Section 16(3) of the police act mandates the Internal Affairs Minister to renew the contracts of police officers over and above the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), where most of the directors belong.

Once a police officer is appointed to the position of Director, they are considered retired and begin operating on contracts renewable after three years. Most of the directors in the police force had their first contracts in 2008 when Directorates were created by the then IGP, Kale Kayihura.

This means most of the directors whose contracts have just been renewed have had their contracts renewed three times.
