These are remarks by Hon. David Bahati at the memorial service of Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile at All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero on January 23, 2023:

I would like to thank everyone for coming to remember Governor Mutebile.
To the Mutebile family, I know no matter how many days pass; it does not matter how many years pass, those days of remembrance are difficult. They bring everything back as if is just yesterday.
I recall that morning call from Nairobi, that informed us of the passing on of the Governor. I remember the sitting in Parliament to pay tribute, I remember those devastating days as if it just yesterday.
Prof. Mutebile was a giant economist and a disciplined civil servant and a great Rotarian.
He followed the path of Adam Smiths and became an ardent believer of a free market economy where the forces /the invisible hand of demand and supply determine the equilibrium price.
