Kanungu District Council meeting held today

 

Kanungu district has held Council today 23/Jan.2023 chaired by Speaker Byaruhanga Frank.

The district Chaiperson Eng. Sam Kajojo while presenting his report to council he talked about the issue of Cheperone International in Katate Health centre iv and Kanungu district local government MOU which has been reviewed in Council and the revised prices for private wing after the presentation of the report by Hon.Tumuhamye Kenneth Secretary social service about the new negotiated prices which has been approved by council.

For the great Lakes matter the consultations and guidance are being thought from the President of Uganda and ministry of Education soon a solution will be reached at.

Eng. Sam has also briefed the house about the district roads to be maintained Kijanga- Nyamigoye road,
Rutenga -Kinaba- Mpungu, Rugyeyo Muramba road,
Nyamirama – Bugongi
Ntungamo- Karangara- mayanja road,
Bukono Kashaki road,

On UNRA pothole roads progress Kanyantorogo Bwindi road has been maintened, Katete done, Kanungu – Kabale road on progress, Rugyeyo being executed.

In the same council the Kihiihi rotary Club president Dr. Birungi Mutahunga has highlighted what they have done over the ten years and what they are planning to do.
Over the ten years, Rottery club Kihiihi together with other clubs has contributed to social economic transformation of Kanungu district in investment of over 1,000,000USD (3.7Bn Ugx) some of these include
▪️X- ray machine with 60 KVA generator to Blind Community hospital (BCH)
▪️First electric lighting at BCH with 52 solar batteries and inverters.
▪️Furnishing Uganda Nursing School Blind with furniture and Kitchen.
▪️Extended safe water supply to Kashojwa.
▪️Equipped the skills laboratory of Uganda Nursing school.
▪️Constructed a permanent house for one of the most needy in Kayonza
▪️Provided street lights at Uganda college of health Sciences Nyamwegabira, Kihiihi town Council and other school in Kayonza.
▪️Have equipped intensive care unit care at BCH the first ever in a rural setting ( 200,000USD)
Vijana poa project. Empowering girl child in Kihiihi with skills in tailoring and crafts.

What they are planning to do.
▪️Mission green project. beautifying the Ishasha – Kanungu high way stretch of 25Km with trees.
▪️
Procurement of Tukutuku ambulance for one of the health facilities in Kanungu
▪️Procurement of a chemistry analyzer machine for Kambuga hospital (50mUgx)
▪️Supply of reusable sanitory pads to pupils in selected 10 sub-counties. (32, 000USD)
▪️
Establishing digital learning center at Karama education Center to increase access to ICT to students, teachers and families.

Dr. Birungi president rotary Club has called upon every one to come and join hands with rottery club to beautify our roads, towns and protect the environment.

He has encouraged those who wish to join to come and join, adding that currently they are only 13 members with an annual subscription of 600,000=Ugshillings.

In the same council people who are encroaching on Mpangago water source have been warned to stop with immediate effect.
