Igara East’s Dan Karukiiko survives poisoning

By Our Correspondent

Reports from Mbarara indicate that the Igara east parliamentary first runner up Dan Karukiiko Mugura has been discharged from Mbarara referral hospital.

Karukiiko who was suspected to have been drugged, was advised to have enough res, but he instead  travelled to Kampala because many people were flocking his home, denying him  time for relaxation and resting.

According to  sources from Kyabugimbi,  Karukiiko and his close associate Obed Ssebagala were reportedly poisoned. The two were first admitted to KIU  Hospital, and thereafter referred to Mbarara Regional referral hospital for advanced medication.

This incident occurred two weeks ago on  24th Feb.2021 after the two had lunch in Kabwohe on their way from Mbarara as they headed for the candidate’s home in Kitagata, Kyeizooba, Bushenyi District.

Shockingly, the two were discovered unconscious in Dan’s house by residents who had come to visit Karukiiko.

Tanga Odoi NRM Electoral Commission boss prophesized about the same.

According to police it is regarded as a rumour because it was not officially reported. Residents claim the poisoning was allegedly political.  It clings on the just concluded Igara east parliamentary and the Rwentuha town council LCIII controversial elections.

According to Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, some of those candidates were equally popular which meant  the chances were very high that the fights  would be visible.
