By Angela Nyakuni

The Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola has shaken up police and reshuffled top police bosses attached to Kampala Metropolitan Police. Ochola reportedly made the reshuffles shortly after President Museveni warned police for making police cells stores and torture chambers.

Sources further revealed that Ochola had gotten information that some top KMP police bosses were getting involved in land wrangles while others were favoring rich people in land grab scandals.

Sources say the reshuffle messages were released on Friday night but could not circulate due to the death of Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj. General Paul Lokech who died on Saturday Morning.

Police Spokesperson Afande Fred Enanga said the transfers were endorsed by the DIGP Maj Gen Paul Lokech before his demise.

According to the police 10 page message, some of the top officers who were affected include ACP Denis Namuwoza who was Deputy Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), who was, according to the message, transferred and appointed Regional Police Commander (RPC) Rwizi Region in Mbarara, western Uganda.

Namuwoza was replaced by his junior ACP Ogula Deo who was the Regional Police Commander (RPC) Kampala East. ACP James Ruhweza was the Regional Police Commander for Kampala South has been transferred to KMP East.
