WHAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT KITALYA MINI-MAX PRISON

Kitalya Mini-Max Prison is a newly constructed state of art prison located in Wakiso District in Uganda.  It  has four units; two units house 13 prison wards while the other two-house administration offices, sickbay and Isolation cells.

Before you read about what took this writer to Kitalya Mini Max Prison; you should know that corruption among judiciary officials along side Uganda Police officers, is the main reason why Kitalya Mini Max Prison is congested.

Currently, the prison houses 3500 inmates in the 13 wards, meaning each ward houses 270 inmates. You should know that each ward is a size of a classroom.  This gives you an impression that the wards are way too congested.

Three quarters of the prisoners are on petty cases; these are bailable but magistrates do not give them bail because of flimsy reasons as well as corruption. This is the main reason prisons are flooding(congested); the actual criminals are not taken to prison; they are always freed at police or at State Attorneys’ chambers.  It hurts.

Important to note is that Prison systems (administration) are very strict on Human Rights; prisoner warders diligently handle inmates even the unruly inmates are handled properly until they realize their mistakes and crimes. They always tell inmates that whether you are a minister or Member of Parliament or an Army General, once you enter into prison you leave your peeps at the gates. That you would pick them on your way after you are released.

Well, I was remanded to Kitalya Mini Max Prison for 21 days by her worship Gladys Kamasanyu of Buganda Road Magistrates Court on 27^th May, 2021 after she read a criminal libel case entitled, “MPs protest Dott Services contract award for Uganda-DRC roads over previous shoddy works.”

However, my stay at Kitalya Mini -Max Prison was profitable; I carried out my research I had planned previously and gathered all facts. I was exposed to para-legal information and had a one on one with hard core criminals; but God was with me.  God gave me all the protection I needed and I got all the necessities I needed.

The Bible says in Psalms 97: 2 Clouds and darkness surround GOD;
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

People should know that we are in the beginning of the last days; they must seek God and do His Will(Righteousness and justice).
