JOURNALISTS SUE DOTT SERVICES

Today, Friday 17th December, 2021 the DPP (Director of Public Prosecution) dropped libel charges that were preferred against journalists Pidson Kareire and Darius Magara.

Her worship Gladys Kamasanyu, delivered the news to the journalists at Buganda Road Magistrates Court and emphasized that they were free and should never return to court over the same case.

The journalists have told The Drone Media that they intend to sue DOTT SERVICES over malicious prosecution.

DOTT SERVICES used corrupt police officers at CID Headquarters, who smuggled uncertain file to court and the journalists were at first denied bail and remanded to Kitalya Mini-Max Prison for three weeks.  After three weeks on 17th June, 2021; they were given bail.

As soon as the journalists were given bail; they wrote to the DPP complaining about the police file. The police officers at Cyber Crimes, CID Headquarters, Kibuli sat on the calling letter by the DPP. They defied the calling letter three (3) times until the journalists went direct to the Deputy Director, who intervened and the file was delivered to the DPP.

The truth is that DOTT SERVICES gets contracts to work on roads in Uganda, but the works are ever shoddy. These shoddy works have always annoyed many Ugandans, including MPs who complained and summoned DOTT SERVICES to the parliament.  After the grilling at Parliament, most media companies and outlets published the story and so were The Drone Media and East African Watch.

However, to our surprise; only Pidson Kareire and Darius Magara were harassed. This has become a habit by Cyber Crimes officers at Kibuli to be used by corrupt Ugandans while they mudsling journalists. Imagine, the officers claimed the journalists were extorting money; yet they preferred criminal libel against the journalists.  They used their spokesperson, Charles Atwine  to disseminate lies so that their corruption schemes can go through. This case and many consequential cases show that there is rot at Cyber Crimes.
