KOBOKO RDC ISAAC KAWOOYA DIES IN MPAMBIRE ACCIDENT

Koboko RDC Issac Kawooya with five others died early this morning in a motor accident involving a truck at Mpambire on Masaka-Kampala Rd.  Kawooya was traveling from Mbarara to Koboko after attending the installation of Mbarara district Khadhi.

The fatal accident occured at Mpambire swamp along Kampala- Masaka Highway three miles from Mpigi Town claiming six lives on spot.

Eye witnesses say a Tanzanian trailer Reg.No. TZ 881DNG caused this accident; it collided with a Toyota Premio Reg. No. UAZ 417D killing all the occupants of the Premio on spot.

The victims have been identified as: Hajji Abdullah Muwonge, 54, of Nyamitanga in Mbarara District; Isaac Kawooya, Resident District Commissioner of Koboko District, Anasipasi Mukakamali, 66; Christine Aharizira, 25, of Mutojo, Ntungamo, Manusuli Semanda of Kakoba in Mbarara District; and a five-year old juvenile who has not been identified.

Police says investigations into the cause of accident is underway. Arrangements are underway to transfer the bodies to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Meanwhile, Yesterday at Kakoba in Mbarara Municipality, President Yoweri Museveni witnessed the installation of Sheikh Abdullah Mukwaya as the District Khadi. The late Isaac Kawooya attended and that is where he was returning from.

President Museveni congratulated the new Khadi upon his election and urged him to foster unity. “This unity should be emulated by the entire Muslim community in the country,” President Museveni implored.

“I commend the progress the Muslim community here is making by building a mosque and related facilities. Government is going to support them,” the president assured the gathering.

Lauben Matsiko mourns: “RDC Koboko, Isaac Kawooya, my friend, my OB and a comrade has passed on. He was involved in a terrible accident at Mpambire along Kampala – Masaka Road. Kawooya has been an employee in the office of the President as a Resident District Commissioner.

He joined Office of the President in 2014 as RDC Bushenyi then to Hoima, Soroti and now Koboko at the time of his passing on. He hails from Nyamitanga division Mbarara Municipality.
