Lango seeks for uniform marriage

By Correspondent
The minister of tourism and culture at Lango cultural foundation Patrick Abal on Friday tabled a proposal before the meeting of clan heads to have uniform marriage in Lango.
Abal said that in 2019, Lango cultural foundation promulgated a by-law to regulate marriage in Lango and the need to register marriages with the office of the paramount chief with certificates issued.
He says this will help to revive Lango lost glory in marriages because under the new system, all cultural leaders, right from the lowest level up to the top will be informed of any marriage taking place.
This will also help to stop child marriages since cultural leaders will also preside over the marriage ceremonies.
Abal said they want Lango to have uniform dowry payable during marriage to prevent people from cheating marriage partners in paying exorbitant dowry.
