I have never drank alcohol, but I tasted on John Walker- Mr. Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni Tubuhaburwa always amuses his listeners, he recently said he has never drank alcohol, but only tasted on John Walker.  Whether tasting is not drinking is a subject of debate.

“I had never tasted alcohol before and then one of my friends convinced me to. I tried beer, beer is so bitter like omururuza (bitter herb). I said that what are you drinking here, he told me ‘You’ll know the sweetness later’. There’s also this one called Johnnie Walker. I tried and it was like fire. If it could burn my tongue what would have happened to the liver and other internal organs?”- President Museveni Tibuhaburwa.

He advises  soldiers,  “Don’t squander yourself with alcohol and umalaya. As an old man, I can tell you the advantage of discipline is good. You see me, in September I will be 77 years but I don’t have space for alcohol. I have never known why people drink alcohol.”

“I am going to be 77 and I can walk any distance. Health is wealth; don’t play around with your life. Exercising is part of discipline and if you have health, you get time to do more things. The longer you live, the more contribution you can make if you are healthy,” President Museveni added.

President Museveni’s stand on alcohol has always been clear. No alcohol near him or in his house. Close sources say there are workers who have been sacked over excessive consumption of alcohol, which eventually render less or no production.
