Ever since Kyadondo East member of parliament Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine’s Arua Municipality by-elections saga in which a presidential car was stoned, his political career seems to have gained momentum.

Bobi Wine’s expectations range from merely being a ghetto president to contesting for national leadership come 2021.

He has even founded a youth backed pressure group popularly known as ‘People Power’ which is problematic.

The Drone Media engaged engo’s minister for information, Mr Noah Kiyimba to find out what the establishment feels about one of its own Muganda coming up to challenge the 30- year old leadership. Below are excerpts:

DRONE:  Kiyimba how does Mengo rate Hon Robert Kyagulanyi?

KIYIMBA: First and fore most, Mengo looks at Bobi Wine as a parliamentarian representing people of Kyadondo East. An MP whose electorate has come to appreciate in their own way and its their right.

DRONE: Bobi Wine seems to be craving for the highest office in the country, how does your kingship look at that?

KIYIMBA: If it is his will and that of his voters , then what?  Kabaka has been encouraging the youth to take up new challenges. He has been clear on this; condemning bad politics, corruption, murders and all upheavals.

DRONE: So does Mengo support Bobi Wine’s presidential bid?

KIYIMBA: Our constitution bars the King from engaging in active politics and so is Mengo establishment.

Therefore, Mengo cannot defy the constitution.  However, Mengo tells her subjects to support whoever will have respect for the King and the Kingdom .We would love that person who knows the King and will respect him holistically.

DRONE: But Mengo consists of people who are Ugandans and also voters for that matter?

KIYIMBA: Yes . At personal level one can say his mind or even support Bobi  Wine as long as his conscience tells him so. But we cannot make an announcement or force subject to support so and so.

We can only say what type of a candidate we would like to have like I have just said.

DRONE: How about Bobi Wine’s regular rallies which can even be chaotic and affects Buganda?

KIYIMBA: I think its time not for politicking now. Though one can want to make some signals. If people were given chance to market what they have personally I take it normal.

DRONE: So how do you advise the Baganda and Kabaka people?

KIYIMBA: I caution them to make better choices and also to detect liars and those who want to use them.
