MONEY FOR A DEAD NAMULANGWA EATEN

OFFICIALS HAVE REPORTEDLY DISAPPEARED WITH CONDOLENCE MONEY FOR A DEAD MIGRANT WORKER

Judith Namulangwa was laid to rest on 19th December, 2019 at Kalagala, Bukoto East, Masaka District. This was after her relatives together with parents, painfully waited for seven (7) months for her body to be brought back from Saudi Arabia.

Like all other migrant workers who fall into bad hands of recruiting companies, Namulangwa was recruited by Creative Group International, which did not monitor her employers as regarded by law as a result she lost her life mysteriously.

According to officials at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Namulangwa’s first employer mistreated her and thereafter sold to another employer, who allegedly confined her in a room for some days. The employer, after realizing she was destined to meet her creator; he delivered her to hospital where she shortly kicked the bucket.

The Drone Media gathered from Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) mortuary, where the body was taken for a post mortem, that Namulangwa died of dehydration.

Previously, government officials assured family members that thorough investigations would be carried out to ascertain what killed Namulangwa, and all negligence would be compensated by responsible parties. That is why the body delayed for all those months.

“What is hurting is that after the body returned, Creative Group International assured us that compensation money was available, but up to now we have never seen even a coin,” John Bukenya, a brother to Namulangwa intimated.

Bukenya says after burial he contacted Hajjat Nuriat of Creative Group International, who claimed that money was at the embassy.  Bukenya also went to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an official known as Emma Wandera showed him an email confirming that the money was sent on the day Namulangwa was buried.

When Bukenya pressed hard, he was told that someone known as Kakama at the Embassy was keeping the condolences, but he had travelled to Oman.

“Can you Imagine, this was meant for condolences!” Bukenya mused. As you read this, family members are still hurting. Namulangwa died over negligence of Creative Group International; she was tortured to death, but even her condolences to contribute to school of her two orphans is eaten by rogue officials.

Judith Namulangwa, 34 years old, according to her brother John Bukenya, was born in Mukungwe, Bukoto East, Masaka District to Mr and Mrs Emmanuel Lubega and Vicencia Nasiwa.

Namulangwa was recruited by Creative Group International Ltd. which sent her to Saudi Arabia to work as house maid. According to John Bukenya, Namulangwa left in November, 2018.

Unfortunately, she soon started complaining of torture by her employers in February, 2019 and her relatives informed creative Group International Ltd, which in turn asked them to buy air ticket. Bukenya says he paid sh1.7m for air ticket only to be told Namulangwa had died on her way to hospital.

Bukenya had not believed it until he received a phone call from Creative Group International Ltd, informing him that he should meet the bosses of the company to discuss about the death of Namulangwa.

Upon meeting bosses of Creative Group International Ltd at Lungujja Police Post, a one Hajjat Nuriat, told Bukenya that Namulangwa had died on her to hospital in Saudi Arabia.

She further explained that the company had removed her from where she was working to treat her but she succumbed to death before reaching the hospital.

However, it is now two months since she died but officials at the ministry are tossing relatives up and down and not telling them the truth.  Bukenya says that before Namulangwa died, she had said that her employers were hell on earth. They were subjecting her to torture and creative Group International Ltd was not bothered to rescue her.
