Namirembe Parents’ Primary School violates MOE’s COVID-19 guidelines to make money

By Drone Writer

Namirembe Parents has reportedly violated Ministry of Education (MOE) guidelines put in place to help stabilize the schooling system.

Apparently, the management of the school has shortened the studying periods and worse still increased school dues to a painful effect. According to the communication parents received from the school; initially, day scholars were paying sh900,000.

“The most annoying part is that the children have only learnt for about two months despite the fees increment.( P.4 and P.5),”  complains a parent who did not want to be mentioned.
Besides, the MOE guidelines stated that Primary Four and Five classes would study for eight weeks, starting on April 6 and end on June 4. This has not been followed.
The parent reveals, “And they want to break off on 14th May 2021 and resume on 31/5/2021 for ‘ third term’ then break off at the end of August. This communication has been made through phone calls from teachers and the learners. They haven’t made any official communication. According to the above schedule, the children are only going to learn for two months and the fees remain the same.
“We do appreciate that teachers were affected by COVID-19 but even the parents. A number of them lost their jobs and they are struggling. Let the school be fair to the parents,” The Parent advises.
On 13th January 2021 the management of the school wrote  to parents/Guardians, saying:
“In order for Namirembe Parents’ Primary School to serve you better, our school fees structure will be as follows:
Boarding section: P.1 – P.6 – shs1,802,500
Day section: P.1 – P.6 – sh1,202,500
For inquiries contact: 0414531019 / 0703442797 / 0772668248 / 0776568986
On 20th January 2021 the management of the school again wrote to parents and guardians, saying the changes that were made in the school fees structure were intended to introduce more programs to improve on the level of skilling of the children.
The management of the school stated, ‘In response to your feedback, Management has decided to postpone some of these programs in order to adjust school fees to the amounts below:
Boarding Section: UGX 1,592,500
Day section: UGX 1,102,500
We thank you for your continued support and co-operation.
However, this state of affairs has left many parents and guardians bitter and in quandary.  Yet, the Summary of timetable of Ministry of Education reads as follows:
