Top ADF commander killed in Mityana district

A top ADF commander of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) has been killed in Mityana district

According to a statement from the Uganda Police, their anti-terrorism team conducted a raid on an ADF terror cell, in Katakala village in Mityana District, where its leader, Sulaiman Bisaso Segawa, was killed during the Counter Terrorism operation.

The statement further indicated that two other ADF terrorists, who included a Medic and female were arrested after they surrendered.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said that the top ADF leader that was killed was on their wanted list for masterminding the attacks on various police stations, murders and violence on police officers and civilians.

“Today’s events are another reminder, that the UPF will continue to pursue all terrorists and violent extremists, who victimize Ugandans,” he said

Enanga said that the operations against the ADF are still ongoing in different parts of Uganda

Recently, the police reported that they raided one of the camps of the ADF in Bukedi and Butaleja districts and rescued 59 victims who were allegedly recruited into an ADF domestic cell.

They also said that a total of 9 suspects, including two females, who were highly linked to the ADF suspects, who attacked Busiika and other police stations were arrested.

The police said in a statement that they bust into their camps after intelligence confirmed that they were rebels whose activities were suspicious

“We have been monitoring all spaces in homes, places of worship which are acting as domains for recruitment and collection centres, for children who are introduced to ideological messages and beliefs,” the statement read

The police added that they now interviewing and counselling the victims and gathering further information on the alleged disappearance of other children from the camp, to an unknown place.

They said that arrangements are being made to make sure these children reunite with their families
