OULANYAH GAINS MORE SUPPORT AS WAR FOR SPEAKERSHIP HEATS UP

Rebecca Kadaga’s chances of taking a third term as parliamentary speaker are waning as Jacob Oulanyah’s supporters and sympathizers join the vote hunt.

The battle for speakership though fought inside parliament in form of voting by MPS, the outside world too play a pivotal role by influencing their legislators and good will.

An inside source told us last night that Hon Oulanyah is leaving no stone unturned to denthrone Hon Kadaga who has served her agreed two terms of office.

Oulanyah is now canvassing for MPS support from NRM, NUP, FDC and independents among others. He is also engaging the son of Kaguta, president elect Yoweri Museveni to rally behind him as promised in 2016.

Oulanyah supporters now say Kadaga who failed to convince voters in her own NRM Busoga to vote for Sevo is literally expired and cannot be equited to Oulanyah who sold NRM in Northern Uganda causing it to win big .

They say she has overstayed in her women member of parliamentary seat for ages suffocating other women who could have used the same path had she graduated to contest directly saying she has not helped more women emancipate.

Kadaga is not seated either she too working around clock to retain the chair saying she is a women voice in atleast that arm of government .

But Oulanyah insists he should be the next Speaker of Parliament, according to an agreement brokered by President Yoweri Museveni and Central Executive Committee- the ruling party’s highest decision making organ.

In broad day light and in presence of NRM pillars while at State House Entebbe in 2016, Speaker Kadaga begged to serve more five years to have her tenure of 10 completed just like her predecessor Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.

At the time (2001- 2010), Kadaga was serving as Ssekandi’s deputy. Kadaga made the promise in 2016 as she faced fierce competition from her deputy Jacob Oulanyah. Kadaga has been in Parliament for 32 years since 1989. She has spent 20 years in Speakers office.
