Paranoia infested Buddo avenge journalist

By Drone Team

A Vision Group journalist Andrew Arinaitwe was released  on Monday evening from the cells at King’ College Buddo, Police Station after a night in detention for alleged criminal trespass on the school.

Arinaitwe will report back to Police this Thursday 9th March. Had it not been for the Human Rights Network for Journalist Uganda (HRNJ Uganda), which pressed hard police to secure his release and freedom, Arinaitwe would still be in cells.

Arinaitwe was on Sunday arrested and detained at Kings College Buddo, Police Post on charges of criminal trespass into Kings College Buddo premises. Surprisingly, Kings College Buddo, one of the schools that are held with high considerations, has stooped so low to bleach the law.

How can a journalist tresspass on a public school?  A public entity? Kings College Buddo is not a private property. Therefore, the journalist has a right to carry out investigations. However, the paranioa -infested Kings College Buddo together with an incompetent officers of police, who were guided by corrupt mind, chose to detain the journalist.

Remember, Kings College Buddo has previously been in the news for bad and illegal activities, allegedly by some teachers. This is what caused the paranioa. One parent accused a teacher at Kings College Buddo of sodomy, this fact was neither denied or explained by the school. It, instead, put the school name in a disrepute.  This is what brought nsanafu/red ants into the head/mind of some individuals, who abused the rights of a journalist. This should not be repeated, journalists are free to enter into pblic places all the time. Justice is needed, but unfortunately police which is always compromised makes this impossible.

Andrew was released yesterday evening after the intervention of HRNJ-Uganda’s Robert Ssempala, Diana Nandudu, New Vision’s Charles Etukuri, Namutebi Mwajuma from Kiiza & Mugisha Advocates and Lydia Namubiru (journalist) Andrew will be reporting back to police on 9th March 2023.
