CAPTURING MOMENTS IN A COVID-19 WARD -EVERY PATIENT BELIEVES GOD IS THE FINAL HEALER

A COVID-19 patient at Nsambya
By Patient at Nsambya
It’s about 5:45 O’clock, a comic, very kind and active Mukiga male nurse sounds-up in  his deep-hoarse voice  of broken Luganda:
abalwadde mwasuze mutya nabajjanjabiiiii….abajjanjabi munaze abalwadde tubajjanjabeee”Ate’ bulyoomu asabe mpola mpola mudiniye naye temusamiira!
After a while  chest “music’ sounds from different snores on different beds but mostly higher volume snores under the beds start reducing… Patients in excruciating endless-pain keep groaning and others coughing harder, in sort of an attention seeking style but truly it’s a real- rare-deep-hard cough/flu of the time!
All members seem to have easily adapted to very bright and full lights, fixed in the ceiling.. like those placed above empty steel drums meant to  trap grass hoppers/nsenene in Busega along Masaka road.
Another day of treatment routine has begun and we honestly thank God as we wait for the body-“menders” and life savers in their different uniforms but mainly the ones dressed in white-overcoats to arrive in more numbers…they don’t disappoint.
The doctors will visit each patient individually, reading facts on file, then explaining to us the next course of action… Good enough, members here have a general consensus that only God is the final healer…
