President Museveni Says Bye To Police Directors

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the Commander In Chief of armed forces has refused to renew the contracts of top police Directors and ordered the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola to ensure that they all vacate their offices by next year. During the recent security meeting at State House Entebbe, the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola tabled Directors contracts before the President for renewal but he declined to pen his signature. State House sources added that President Museveni tasked IGP Ochola to show cause why old Director’s contracts should be renewed. “Most of those police officers are above 45 years of age and I don’t think it is necessary to for them to stay in office,” a source quoted the President saying. “Police needs young, energetic and brilliant officers who can battle with these young and stubborn opposition leaders,” Adds the President during a security meeting which was attended by top security chiefs. Security sources added that the President instructed Inspector General of Police Ochola to select young and disciplined police officers to replace those directors whose contracts are yet to expire. Security sources added that most Police directors are left with one year on their Contracts and wanted the President to give them more three years such that they can finish their businesses in the force. Some of Police Directors whom sources told us that the President declined to renew their contracts include, AIGP Asan Kasingye who heads political Commissar, AIGP Stephen Kasiima who heads traffic and road safety, AIGP Edward Ochom heads research and Planning, AIGP Andrew Sorowen in charge special duties in the office of IGP, AIGP Hajji Moses Balimwoyo In charge Human Resource and Administration, AIGP Godfrey Bangirana who heads Engineering and logistics among others. Police sources added that in the recent PAC meeting, IGP Ochola openly listed and informed some directors who are likely to be affected
