TWO ARRESTED AT DTB BANK IN NTINDA-KAMPALA

Police in Ntinda have arrested two suspects at DTB Bank, Ntinda Branch.
They have been identified as David Gasumba a resident of Makindye and Akello Mary a resident of Entebbe.

The duo approached a young man whom his boss had sent to go and bank two million shillings and tried to decive him that they have dollars that they are interested in exchanging for Ugandan currency. They convinced the boy that he would get profit.

They took him out of the bank to a nearby resturant but we had already been tipped. We went to the restaurant and arrested the duo. On searching them we found the suspects with papers that was cut nicely into pieces to depict the size of a dollar.

It was tied, one Dollar was put on one side and another dollar the another side.
They are currently being detained at Ntinda Police station pending court.

UPDATE ON CCTV

Meanwhile the CCTV Project started 2019 and has two phases, first phase is intended to cover the surveillance systems for Kampala Metropolitan area and phase two is intended to cover surveillance systems for municipalities, highways and major towns.  

The total number of cameras to be installed is 3233 and so far 60% (1940)of these have been installed.  The distance covered in laying fibre optic cables is 1065.709, trenched distance in kilometres is 795.37.  So far installation of cameras is ongoing in police divisions which include:-

Katwe, CPS, Old Kampala, Jinja road, Wandegeya, Kajjansi, Nansana, Entebbe, Wakiso, Kawempe, Kira division, Kasubi.  Installations are expected to be concluded by 30th December 2019.  These installations will aid the police in investigations of crimes and prosecution of offenders.

Training of the operators, commanders and technicians is already taking place.  So far with the help of the cameras, we have had successes in 27 incidents around CPS Kampala, 8 incidents around Katwe, 06 around Old Kampala and 07 around Wandegeya.
