Attorney General tells police to style up

By Drone Staff
The Attorney General of the government Kiryowa Kiwanuka has told Uganda Police Force to style up. He said this while addressing the CID officers at the annual CID Retreat in Kibuli, this week.
In his remarks Kiwanuka urged the officers to be professionals in conducting evidence based investigations, they should learn from mistakes and desist from any form of impunity while working to mitigate crime in the country.
The retreat was organised to help the directorate share challenges and come up with strategies of how to best serve Ugandans.
The retreat was graced by the presidential Advicer on Police Affairs, SSP Susan Kasingye, Assistant directors, regional CID officers and District CID officers.
Take example of a case that was reported by the complainant Anita Annet Among (MP) Rt. Hon Deputy Speaker of Uganda then, a resident of Nakasero, Martin Road on Telephone 0706009777.
Among stated that the above particulars truly belonged to her and stated that she wished to accuse people who write false information on social media against her with intent to turnish her name.
In the statement she recorded in her offices at Parliament,  Among stated that a week ago on a Saturday night, 30th October, 2021 she saw posts circulating on social media. They were on many platforms including the one of the parliament.
Among stated that she did not know the people who were writing, turnishing her name. She concluded by stating that she could only record that.  She signed in her own handwriting on 2nd November, 2021 at parliament.
Now, is it fair for a professional police officer who is trained in investigations and intelligence gathering to jump out of Malwa makeshift and kidnap innocent Ugandans just because Anita Among has complained?
Besides, what would be the first step to find the source of information? Greed and lack of investigators has caused harm to this country. This is what the Attorney General KK (Kiryowa Kiwanuka) was telling the Bakulu.
