Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has lost a case she initiated by misleading security agents who kidnapped and tortured journalists Pidson Kareire, Moses Mugalula and businessman Francis Matovu aka Butto and Bigirwa Moses.

The Court presided over by Gladdys Kamasanyu dismissed a criminal case No. 1457 of 2021 that was brought to Buganda Road Court, under the charges of Offensive Communication C/S of the Computer Misuse Act.

While dismissing the case, Chief Magistrate Gladdys Kamasanyu said that the prosecution had no witness and the suspects had frequented court for over a year. Kamasanyu said that was not only unfair, but also harassing.  Citing the Magistrates Act, she dismissed the case.

Pidson Kareire & Mugalula Moses were represented by Andrew Mumpenje of Makada Associates and Advocates while businessman Francis Matovu aka Butto was represented by Dr. Gureme Mushabe and Moses Bigirwa had no lawyer.

This case was initiated by Deputy Speaker of Parliamen then Anita Annet Among, who is today Speaker of 11th Parliament. She concocted a story that the accused were asking her for over sh100m not to publish intelligence reports. The dossier had circulated allover especially on social media. It portrayed corrupt tendences that Anita Among was involved in.

Unfortunately, Among misled security agents police and CMI officers who later kidnapped the accused and tortured them. Surprisingly, what she circulated that the accused were asking for money, she did not maintain it.

After the accused were detained in a safehouse for a week, they were later arraigned in court with such tramped case.  When the accused wrote to DPP, an ICT expert in the office of DPP, Calorine Marion Acio, after reading the police forensic report, clearly stated that the charges against all the accused persons be withdrawn for lack of sufficient evidence to support the prosecution.

However, according to the minutes seen by The Drone Media, by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Jane Francis Abodo, after she saw the opinion of Asio, she called her for a discussion.

Even after the discussion, Asio insisted that the case was weak with no evidence. In a bad note, M/S Abodo ordered the file to be taken court, saying the court should decide. Now, the court has decided.

The Bible says, in Psalms 92, ” Justice and Righteousness is the foundation of God’s Kingdom.  This is true.  Jesus Christ reigns! Anita Among should repent, otherwise hell awaits.
