Chameleone fights URA officer over car tax

Jose Chameleone live on BBS TV

The Easter CAMUKA show on BBS TV was brought to a halt as singer Jose Chameleone alias Joseph Mayanja fought Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) enforcement officer.

Trouble started after a humble enforcement officer asked Chameleone to present documents/papers for his new car, which he claimed were at his home. However, the Leone Island Boss, triggered a barrage of verbal bullets not giving him a chance to explain.

Chameleone who looked scared, kept on asking the URA officer to excuse him so that he could sing for the Kabaka. He seemed to have run out of excuses because he started asking the URA officer why they don’t rest.

“Even on Easter you guys of URA still follow us,” Chameleone queried. Then the URA officer told him he was an enforcement officer, meaning he is supposed to work whether on holiday or at any eventuality.  The URA officer left Chameleone to sing so that after his gig he could send for the papers of the car as he promised.

In fact, after twenty (20) minutes after the scuffle, Chameleone posted it on his facebook wall:

To you, the Management and the staff of BBS TV, I can’t take the hospitality you gave me for granted. It was amazing, everyone gave their best, and it made me enjoy every moment I had with you.

And our people – Abantu ba Ssabasajja – who were viewing from their homes with enthusiasm, thank you. Throughout the program till now, I have and continue to receive voluminous messages of appreciation of our show. I have performed in front of crowds with millions of people before, but reading today’s messages, I feel honoured.

In this tough lockdown period, this is the least I can give back in return for the support you have given me all the years. I feel indebted and can’t wait to be back and give you even more as we walk shoulder to shoulder out of this testing time.

“Despite the URA officers who tried to jeopardize the mood. Following me to BBS questioning me about my Car tax – I have all the documents you need. We should stop frustrating each other as we have so much in common in such a time. Let’s be comforters to one another.I will avail my car documents as soon  as public holidays are over,” Chameleone posted.
