Hon Sam Kutesa justifies social media shutdown

Sam Kutesa the Foreign Affairs Minister has justified the temporary internet shutdown, saying it was a necessary step to stop the vitriolic language and incitement to violence.

The aging minister; Sam Kutesa says this vitriolic language is a threat to the democratic process and the security of the country and its citizens.

The Drone Media consulted a scholar to further explain about the “vitriolic language’ and the psychology of sorts. The expert says, “vitriolic,’ the word is an adjective meaning something or someone filled with bitter criticism or malice. In archaic, it literary means a language that is full of sulphuric acid.

This gives you a view of what has always been posted on the social media; contents full of bitterness and malice.

Another psychology scholar says such behaviour is associated with dangerous traits caused by poverty; drug abuse; lack of strong cultural background support, which stems from a vagabond lifestyle thus ” I don’t care attitude” emerges.

In fact, there is unrealistic distrust of others and a feeling of being persecuted; this, in other words is known as paranoia. However, in an extreme degree it may be a sign of mental illness.

Today people seem to hate each other more than ever.  Name calling and violence seems everywhere. Politics may be part of the problem but perhaps it doesn’t account for all of it.

However, regardless of personal views and feelings, people are so much more complicated than you tend to know. If you are truly to be honest, you have to admit that people are increasingly intolerant and paranoid.

There is need to confront the extreme vitriol and hate in Uganda. Some people are hiding behind tribal sentiments, but this might be a mental illness. It could be a result of what the society is consuming, physically and spiritually. Young people are ever chewing weed; mijaj; kuber etc Thereafter go for sports betting. What do you expect?
