indefatigable Kiryowa Kiwanuka

Born on March 15, 1972, Kiryowa Kiwanuka, is an indefatigable lawyer who is also principled as well as fearless. He recently told the 11th Parliament that, “Yes, I advised the president against signing the Anti Homosexuality Bill (AHB).”

KK as he is fondly referred to by his peers, is described as a straightforward and fearless man. Although many believe he was handpicked because of his association with Edwin Karugire, a learned fellow, who is the First Son in-law; KK has disaproved speculators.

He is saving Uganda from embarassment resulting from mistakes of ill-managed parliament. Law experts say the proposed AHB was rushed and no consultation was done to make it thorough so that it becomes pro-Ugandans. Besides, the bill was reportedly based on emotions. Otherwise, how would a landlord, a lawyer or journalist be penalized over the sins of homosexuals simply because the act is their line of duties! Secondly, the existing laws can well prosecute the homosexuals, but responsible organisations choose to ignore.
