LC 1 Elections set a precedence

Local Council (LC1) elections going on just now have set a precedence or call it firm ground for higher offices, say presidential elections.

It can be observed that all incumbent chairmen took a lead in this elections. Most of these Chairmen have been there since the time National Resistance Movement government captured power.

Surprisingly, they did not want to leave the chair. The question is; ” how will these chairmen and the people who voted them say, ‘ agenda’. Meaning let him(Yoweri Museveni) leave. They don’t have a moral authority of saying such.

Snoops at this polling station observed these irregularities: Most people came inebriated. Besides, all garage mechanics swarmed the polling station; they were rowdy and chaotic.

Secondly, some people still vote according to religion. At this polling station, Democratic Party lost. There were three candidates; one DP, one NRM and independent but who belonged to NRM.

The elections were dominated by intimidation, fear and chaos. The inebriated youth uttered all the obscenities they have ever had.

What is clear is that the candidate with majority votes wins and, indeed they won. However, the problem is: the voters were interested in drinks than the cause.

In other words, the local council electorate is interested not in leadership but in personal interests.

Some of the voters the snoops talked to were like: ” our chairman has no problem, he does not ask us much money for signing on our required letters.”

Another voter said, ” our chairman does not ask many questions whenever you for a stamp.”

In Kakajjo, for example, the voters say, ” Acaali always gets us from police cells. He cannot let any resident be taken to police.”

This is what is happening on the ground. If you are reading this, tell us what is happening in your area. Why did people vote the incumbent or changed their minds? Comment below
