No justice for late Maria Nagirinya

By Drone Team

There is a wave of relief resulting from the 40 years sentence that was slapped on Maria Nagirinya murderer.

However, a much hurting pain is felt by Ugandans, who read and are aware that the perpetrator of this murder is free. One question still stands who procured this murder. These street boys had no interest in the murder of Nagirinya and the Boda man Ronald Kitayimbwa. It’s one of those questions our poor police system will never answer yet it’s crucial to stop the next murder.

Murder suspect in court

What is surprising is that the murder suspects confessed that they were given sh130,000 each, but Ugandans have never seen the person who masterminded the murder. If justice is to prevail, the perpetrator of the Maria Nagirinya murder should be brought to book.

Maria Nagirinya murder suspect in court

According to previous reports the prime suspects in the killing of social worker Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa, a boda boda rider, confessed to the crime during interrogation, and shed light on the role each played in the alleged murder.

Three years ago, the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, reaffirmed that they had arrested “all the conspirators” in the killing and promised that in due course, the public would be given details from investigations before the case is taken to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for prosecution.

The arrested suspects included John Kisekka, also known as Manumanu, John Lubega, aka Baros, Hassan Kisekka, and Isaac Kisunsu.

Ivan Mutagubya, the man in charge of defence in Kitaka zone,  said he was present when the five suspects were brought back to their rented house in Kitaka zone. He also disclosed that many items, including machetes (pangas) stained with blood and other unidentified objects, as well as electronics, were retrieved from the suspects’ house. Mutagubya also told the press that the hitmen were paid sh130,000 each. This is hurting, where is the funder? Besides, why did the DPP lose interest in one of the suspects? GOD!
