By Our Correspondent

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has come up with a critical analysis into presidential polls/ NRM performance pattern in Buganda and Busoga regions.
This has been reached because of  the need for a critical analysis into Presidential polls and needs assessment in Buganda and Busoga Revolt.
Truth is that the Buganda and Busoga revolt has affected the NRM performance pattern and trajectory that has been on increasing trend.

President Museveni-838,858 Voted
Kyagulanyi-1,453,535 votes
Margin of 614,677 votes
NRM lost 09 seats in Buganda including the seat of the Vice President.
BUGANDA REGION
The Abysmal performance of the NRM in Buganda was due to;
i) Social economic factor ie land grabbing aided by people in either NRM party positions or Government positions.
ii) Protest vote against the incumbent NRM leadership not necessarily a block vote for Kyagulanyi.
iii) Urban based voters are more politically conscious and vote Opposition because their desire is to see change in Governance
iv) Youth unemployment
v) People voting along tribal lines with tribal sentiments
vi) Religious sectarianism
vii) Lack of information about NRM ideological consciousness and its achievements
Mismanagement of NRM Primaries
BUSOGA SUB REGION
NRM party and President Museveni had never lost the Busoga vote since 1996 but lost it this time round.
President Museveni-404,862 votes
Kyagulanyi-437,059
Margin -32,197
President Museveni only won 3 districts of  Buyende, Kaliro and Namutumba.
Kyagulanyi won 8 districts out 11 districts of Busoga subregion.
NRM retained most of the seats in Busoga though opposition made some gains in the region.
CONCLUSION
i) There is need to understand the underlying issues in Buganda and Busoga
ii) There is need for change in either the message or ideas and ideal for the people
iii) Mismanagement of NRM Primaries
iv) People thinking about themselves and false politicking
v) NRM political internal structural challenges
vi) The new voting pattern come down to failures in the politics of the NRM coz the lost regions have many NRM bigwigs
There is need for  in depth analysis about what went wrong and what needs to be done.
Is it a protest vote?
Is it because of lack of facilitation?
