OTT tax robs minister Bahati’s Parliamentary Seat

Minister for State for Planning and Economic Development and incumbent MP for Ndorwa West Constituency is faced with vicious backlash from the OTT and social media tax which constituents say is hurting to business and is fraudulent.

Hon Bahati serving his third term as MP for Ndorwa West Constituency and his popularity has taken a heavy blow because of the tax constituents say he authored.

Hon David Bahati is also accused of using bribery of constituency officials in all the years he has been MP instead of interacting with the common person to hear from them directly and learn their problems.

Mr Turyamwijuka of Ryakarimirara town council said Hon Bahati has never conducted a consultative meeting in his parish, now ward since he became MP. This has caused disgruntlement amongst the people, especially NRM leaders who say the constituency which used to be an NRM stronghold has now become independent minded because people are now open to an independent candidate.
There is fear among NRM members in the constituency that support for NRM might slip away just like it is in Kabale Municipality and Ndorwa East Constituency.

Mr Nelson Mwesigwa, of Butanda Subcounty and in the transportation business said most of the constituents now prefer to have Dr Gideon Rukundo Rugari a Surgeon at Mulago Hospital and one of the most prominent stalwarts to lobby for the constituency from the President Museveni and bring services to Ndorwa West Constituency.

This sentiment was echoed by many constituents who said it was time for a fresh NRM cadre to take over responsibility in the next cycle of elections.

Dr Gideon Rukundo Rugari is credited for being a staunch supporter of President Museveni and a promoter of delivery of social services, especially health. When contacted, Dr Rugari said he would answer the call and answer this call if indeed he were approached to serve. I would be honoured, he said.

Since Bahati is stubborn with his OTT let Ugandans show him that they also have people credible enough to replace him.
