Rukungiri man cuts self to death

Police in Rukungiri is investigating a case of suspected suicide registered as CRB 1246/2021. According to preliminary report,  Nasasira Ivan, 30 years, a casual labourer and resident of Kitumura Cell, Nothern B ward, Eastern division, Rukungiri Municipality Rukungiri district, reportedly committed suicide by stubbing self with a sharp object.

It is alleged that on the 20/08/2021 at around 06:30hrs at the above address, the deceased went and knocked at the father’s door, a one Tumusiime Gerisom, 56 years, informing him of how he (deceased) felt a sharp headache. The father reportedly opened the door for him and the entire family begun prayers that ended at around 0730hrs where the deceased claimed had gotten some relief.

There after, the father reportedly went to the garden and left the deceased under the care of the mother one Annah Tumusiime 49yrs.

At around 1300hrs while still in the garden, Gerisom reportedly received information that the son had stubbed self to death in the house of his brother a one Evart, which is under construction.

Gerisom reportedly rushed to the scene from where he notified the area LC3 chairperson Tumwesigye David 64 years who reported the incident to Rukungiri main Scene.

The scene was visited by District CID officer and team, postmortem done at site and body handed over to the relatives for burial.

At the scene a sharp panga with blood stains was recovered , body had fresh multiple cuts caused by a sharp object. Police says inquiries are ongoing to establish the likely cause.
