Uganda’s Vice President returns the COVID-19 loot

Vice President Edward Ssekandi who doubles as Bukoto Central MP has handed over the Shs20m given to lawmakers to help their constituents affected by the virus lockdown.

The money was received by the RDC Masaka. The VP also pledged assistance for the residents of Malembo and Diimu landing sites who were displaced and lost property during the floods that swept the area.

Robert Kabushenga  has denied reports that alleged his company benefited from the COVID-19 Fund. “It is not true that Vision Group was given large amounts of money for COVID-19.”

In April, Vision won sh 5.98 billion Education ministry tender, is expecting sh 250 m from ICT for COVID-19 publicity and sh 55 m from Transport ministry for car stickers.

Dr. Kiiza Besigye says, “Lockdown cannot be sustained without providing food to people. If a 35 year old regime has no food reserve or reserve of anything at this time of the pandemic, what about the people it’s been fleecing?”

When €600m borrowed recently is still fuelling Mafia wars within the NRM/M7 Junta, scrambling for the pickings, the IMF puts more cash on table!

Can IMF claim to be ignorant of the humongous governance problems the country is burdened with? The fundamental problem that needs fixing is governance and not money.

This money would make it harder to fix the governance problem as it’ll go into paying greater militia forces to terrorize Ugandans. Isn’t this an Odious debt? Time Ugandans took matters into own hands. Uganda is not listed but when I searched I got it.

Right Honourable Rebecca Kadaga says, “It is important to note, at this point, that the Constitution of Uganda, under Article 164(3) gives Parliament the mandate to oversee/monitor expenditure of all public funds. As such after the approval of the Supplementary Budget of sh 304 billion, it was only automatic that oversight is provided because the large amount of funds are to be expended in a short span of time”.
