Three Ugandans recover from Coronavirus, discharged

Officials waiting to see off the 3 COVID-19 patients

By Angela Nyakuni

Uganda has today discharged 3 patients who have totally recovered from COVID-19 after spending 21 days in Entebbe Grade B hospital.

15 more patients are set to be discharged on Easter Sunday according to Health minister Jane Ruth Aceng. Aceng urged the community not to stigmatise the discharged saying they have fully recovered from the disease. Uganda’s total confirmed coronavirus cases stands at 53.

Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda praised Entebbe hospital health workers for taking care of themselves by staying negative while they took care of the COVID-19 patients.

He said Uganda has shown the world that health workers can take care of COVID-19 patients and still stay negative.

If health workers can’t take care of themselves, then they can’t take care of patients, he said.

Rugunda added that President Museveni has directed that all divisions of Kampala be given relief food starting tomorrow.

The two met in January, 2020

On behalf of Ugandans and my own behalf, I have sent a get-well-soon message to His Excellency Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, who is unwell with Covid-19.

I have fond memories of the January UK-Africa Summit where Prime Minister Johnson played a key role. I am optimistic we shall transcend this unwelcome diversion and go ahead with more productive business. We wish him a quick recovery and success to the British people in the fight against the virus.

Boris Johnson is now out of intensive care. The British prime minister’s office announced Thursday that medical workers have moved him back to the regular ward at St. Thomas’ Hospital in central London, where he continues to receive treatment for persistent symptoms linked with COVID-19.

“He is in extremely good spirits,” said Johnson’s office, which explained in a statement that after his move Thursday evening, the U.K.’s top politician “will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery.”
