Criminals hiding behind Kale Kayihura

The legal officer overseeing matters concerning former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura, has said all stories about the former IGP are negative.

Many of the stories that have been written about Kayihura are, ‘grossly incorrect and only aimed at misinforming the public.’

“Ninety-nine percent of what has appeared in the press in regards to questions that have been put to Gen Kale are entirely false. He has not recorded a single statement or been formally questioned about a single offence to the best of our knowledge,” Karuhanga said.

He added that although Kayihura is not scared of being charged, he is aware of people who have made it a point to incite the public against him.

“What Kale is grossly aware of is a massive misinformation campaign being conducted against him by certain elements within the media being supported and informed by people whose objectives and motives are unclear. What appears in the press; the headlines, the visitors; the generals who they say visited him like Saleh and Tumwine. The interviews by Brigadier [Abel] Kandiho [head of CMI], all have never happened,” Karuhanga said.

Karuhanga further said the charges that have been linked to Kayihura like the murder of the former AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, beheading of a witness in the murder, writing statements and the story of how Kayihura was arrested while trying to escape in the trunk of a car are all fabricated.

“People who have been accused of certain offences are now trying to shift those charges onto Gen Kale. Even with such a campaign, he has taken a more restrained approach on when and how to appropriately respond,” Karuhanga said.

In other word, culprits have taken this opportunity to shift the blame. This means, the criminals are bidding behind Kale Kayihura. However, the truth will come out.
